“What a ride! The characters are well written, the plot is excellent.”
The story is set in The Smoke, a dystopian city-state whose overlords, The Commission, keep the population firmly in their place with the help of corrupt law enforcement and merciless mobsters the Silencios. The heroes are a crew of idealistic young men and women, the Incorruptibles, led by Cerval Frankenstein, direct descendant of the original Doctor, whose fearsome secret weapon is the giant Thorsten Laverack and his mighty steam-powered prosthetic arm.
“Head spinner, page turner and brain burner. It’s so full of steampunk, violence, action”
Unfolding in roller-coaster scenes of violence, wild sex and dark humour, THE INCORRUPTIBLES reflects many of the left-field perspectives of Lawrence and Trengove’s other books, bringing steampunk and fantasy fiction to a new, wider audience.
“FRANKENSTEIN VIGILANTE is just some of the most fun I’ve had reading in a long time.”
Amazon reviews:
What a ride! The characters are well written, the plot is excellent. I like the reference to the author of Frankenstein, in reverse of course. The ‘Silencios’ kind of remind me of the Mafia. There are a lot of really off the wall characters in this book, especially Mr. Bass, what a strange man. All in all the book was really enjoyable and I’m looking forward to reading the 2nd in the series.
Loved it! WOW! What a Crazy, Wild Ride by those Two Madmen, Lawrence & Trengove!
Head Spinner, Page Turner and Brain Burner. It’s so full of Steampunk, Violence, Action. Sex and Brilliant Craziness and Mayhem that one needs to wear a HazMat Suit while Reading. The Land of The Smoke is a Whacked-Out, Art-Deco, Electric (without Electricity) World that smacks of Orwell,
BRAZIL, Kafka and Anthony Burgess that is Sledgehammered in the Readers Soul. Keep The Lights ON andtake good Mental Notes because this Psycho Funhouse moves so fast, it doesn’t stop for Amateurs or those that are Faint-Of-Heart. If that isn’t enough, FRANKENSTEIN LIVES! Yet again but in a way that actually seems like it is the most Lifelike of all the Frankenstein Tales if You can believe that one…
What a launch! This is obviously the first in a series, and a debut with terrific promise.
Lawrence and Trengove have pinned their ears back and thrust us on a rollicking ride through
sci-fi, fantasy, civic responsibility, adult porn, gang warfare, and a dozen or so other genres.
Basically, it’s a tale of revolution as involving as Les Miz, all presented with crackling energy
and a bawdy sense of humor…
… just some of the most fun I’ve had reading in a long time. Loaded it to my Kindle and carried it around with me for a week… I hope this becomes a series because I really want to see where the authors take this. There are many, many more stories for Cerval Franks and the Incorruptibles… Please, somebody, a movie!
